Well, I believe that it is definately time to integrate the use of a blog into the weekly world of my classes. I wish for this blog site to be an open forum for comments and discussion about the projects that we are doing, future projects that we could do, as well as different discussions on architecture, engineering, and construction.

I will be requesting that each student do two things each week:
1. Each student must submit comments to one of the current blog postings. Your comments should be 2-3 sentences. Comments should be well-written (no text messaging shortcuts here, guys).
2. Each student must respond to someone else’s comment in any different section of blog postings. These comments should follow the same guidelines – well written and 2-3 sentences.

You will receive a 10 point daily grade for both parts of this (20 points per week maximum grade).

Remember, your classmates and students in other class periods will be able to read your words and post on them…

Traveling for School…Any Ideas

OKAY, GANG…I asked if anyone was interested in traveling to Italy for Spring Break 2008…and the response was pretty slight. So, I have a question for you. WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRAVEL FOR A SCHOOL TRIP? Would you like to go to Downtown Atlanta for a day, stay in a hotel, tour everything and learn about your city? What about Washington DC for a whole weekend? Maybe a trip to New York to stay near Central Park and explore the architecture of Manhattan? What is a mini-trip that you would like to do…that is educational and fun? If you are picking…what would it be?

Farmland or Houses?

When I attended Sequoyah in 1992-1996, East Cherokee Drive was nothing but 80% farmland and about 20% houses/neighborhoods. Now, it is about half and half…but lots of people are trying to sell their farmland to house developers. DO YOU THINK THAT EAST CHEROKEE DRIVE SHOULD BE FULL OF HOUSES OR FULL OF FARMS? Does it matter one way or another? Do you prefer to see lots of green fields with pretty horses and smelly cows? Would you prefer to see no trees, no land, and nothing but the same house over and over and over and over…

Architecture of Creekview

What do you think about how Creekview is designed? Do you think that there should have been different things in it? Should it have had more windows/less windows/skylights/different color rooms/more floors/two gyms/rooms in different places/etc? What could have been done to the school to make you LEARN better in the classroom? Give me your feedback on the school building that you are a part of!
