I asked you all to write comments in your booklet and told you that it would find its way to your gradebook. So…
1. Did you find the booklet a helpful way to take notes?
2. Did you make sketches in it?
If you turned back in a blank booklet, in this section it is your chance to redeem yourself. Write about the places that you went, the projects that you saw, and waht you learned. This should be done in about 20-30 sentences minimum!!!
I did find them to be a helpful way to take notes and/or make fun of things/speakers. I tried to make sketches but that didn’t go very well.
I did not write very much in my notebook. I forgot it in the bus for a lot of the time. Next time if we have a field trip I would have to remember to write in my notebook.
I think the booklets were helpful in a way. They were helpful when you started writing down the notes, but while you were writing the notes down, you were missing other important notes that you could have wrote down. I think that the booklets would have helped more if the presenters would have talked a bit slower to give you more time to write down notes.
I think that Georgia Tachs person wasn’t the best. You couldn’t even tell what some of the stuff was. Like the water bottle. The man may some pretty good sense though. A couple of times he was confusing. At Herry you actually know what there talking about. Herry was a little more comprehensive. They had everything all thought out. SPSU was the place that was more expresive than anywhere else. You could actually tell what they were doing. David explained way more stuff than anyone else. The only bad part about SPSU is the sleeping time. At Geogia Tech the instructor sometimes didn’t make any sense. Everywhere else they did. It sounds like it’s more fun at SPSU. The instructor seemed nice and explained everything. All the students looked like they knew what they were doing. That’s why I would rather go to SPSU.
I didn’t write much in my note book. I forgot about it after Heery so the only thing on there is about GT and Heery. So here is some more notes:
1. I didn’t like that we were run through Heery in about 20 minutes.
2. The bus driver had crazy bus driving skills.
3. Lunch was awsome! I had a four pound buritto at Moe’s
Then Vernon talked me into a brownie for dessert. I didn’t eat dinner.
4. I enjoyed the walking tour. watching the people get stuck in the fountians was funny. The walk through the park was cool as well. I saw an art plumbing truck at the new Hilton Garden Inn at Peberton Place that i found out later was parked there illegaly.
5. I really enjoyed Southern Poly. Talking to David was cool. The speakers in the pit we very helpful.
6. The bus ride home was good. We didn’t get stuck in too much traffic.
I personally did not like the notebooks. They were too big for my pocket and I did not want to carry it in my hand. Also, i did not really like having to write thongs down because I would get into the presentation or be trying to understand what the speaker was saying and I would not write anything down.
I liked having the booklet that you gave us. It was something that we could write sown our thoughts and ideas about the places we went and the people we saw. If we didn’t like what was going on we could write that down on the booklet and it let us get it off our chest. That helped us because we didnt have to keep all of our negative thoughts bottled up inside us. If we didn’t have the booklets I would have probaly went crazy.
To start off I did not like the notebooks because I thought they were used to express our opinions and write down things we thought we interesting. I did not know we were going to be graded on them, I think they were just dead weight, it was a problem having those, in my own opinion I think that the notebooks should be optional to those who want to use it, instead of wasting paper on the ones who are not going to write anything down.
The trip was nice, but the 1st speaker Kahn was a pain, he spoke too much, peoples intention span only last 8-10 minutes, he needed to be more enthusiastic, and I did not agree with his comment saying art is not expressing yourself. He seemed very dull. The next place Heery was nice because their envrionment kept me interested, it seemed like a very nice work environment.
The place I liked the most was SPSU because their speakers or professors were able to relate and seemed like they actually had a personality and cared about us instead of just being like “Great we have to talk to some more kids.” like Georgia Techs speaker. The people their were very nice.
Some of the things i liked about the guy a GT is he took the time to not only tell that that figure is an object but how that object is created. and how you have to draw what you see not what you think you see. I love the bus rides they were just a layed back area were you and your friends could chill. At herry i liked how there involved in so many things from colledge sports to office buildings. The CNN lunch center was a great idea right in the middle of the day. because after hearing all those lectures and speaches you and your friends just get to sit down and eat some lunch and just have some time to relax. The walk through centinial park was fun even though i didnt get to run throught the fountains. hey i didnt even rain and the sun was out. it was also cool seeing the georgia aquarium up close. Then seeing how it was shaped like a large boat. SPSU was great and getting to acualy talk to the students was great. David Was pretty funny he told us about sections and how you would use them in arcitecture. The overall trip was great. My most memorable moment was when I gave dustin two wedgies in a row. It was great he criedit was so funny. but i think this is a trip we should take again as seniors because then at that time were are looking at collage options. I do think that next time though i should get to run through the fountain
First off on our trip we visited Georgia Tech. Here we saw a lot of artwork that represented how things work and human motions. Dr. Kahn talked to us about what Georgia Tech has to offer. He also told us about the drawings and what they represent and also the different kind of drawings that were being represented. Our next stop was an architecture firm called Heery. This building was huge! Here we learned that this company designs many of the sports stadiums and buildings that are all around us. They mainly focus on sports stadiums, and when they first started out in the 50s and 60s they mostly did industrial buildings and warehouses. The staff here was pretty cool and their workspace was very roomy and they had nice facilities. Our next stop was lunch at the CNN Center. Typical fast food was abundant and there were some cool little gift shops and stores. We ate Taco Bell and got donuts from Dunkin Donuts. Finally our last stop, SPSU. This was a very neat place. We talked to David Norton, one of Salas’ old students, and he told us all about SPSU and how you need to take school seriously. Also here we got to see students in college and working on their different projects and assignments. I learned a lot at SPSU and it was fun learning all of those new things.
Overall, the trip was very informational. For someone who wants to pursue life as an architecht this field trip was great. It gave plenty of information and showed things that most high schoolers do not get to see.
im not a note taker. i usually learn by paying attension. only reason i use the note pad was cause u said we had to.
David said you won’t get much sleep. David also said you won’t have much of a social life other than the people that you work with.
Dr. Khan made me look at the projects, the students made, differently. Like the continuous line one I didn’t notice that it was a continous line at first.
Heery was a nice place. Why didn’t we stay for the free bar-b-que though? Anyways i did find it a good.
I think we should have went to olympus park while it did the water show where it dances to the music. I think one was at 12:30 and we could have went while we were eating or something.
I liked Heery cause it was nice and organized. CNN center also had a variety of restraunts in it.
Dr. Farooq was cool. When we were in the place i kept seeing dead birds. It was a bit freaky. I did like how SPSU offered bigger work areas.
I like SPSU better cause it has larger work areas. You could sleep under your work area. You stay with the same people the entire time your there. Im an LSU fan so going tto GATECH would not be a very good idea.
I found my booklet helpful at GT and Heery. but i left it on the bus everywhere else we went…..my bad.
The first place we went to i didnt have a pencil so i didnt write anything and when i did get a pencil i was to busy listening to write anything. But, there was a few tjhings i didnt like at gt the guy went on and on about the same thing for like 20min. I lost intrest and started to look around and i about feel asleep.
The GA Tech guy was kind of a floosy. I dont think i want to go there. There wasnt enough space and they dont offer a direct architecture class.
I really liked Southern Poly. they have a great enviroment that is incredibly efficient. I can wait to aply there. The people seemed more in to what they were doing and in our education there.
Heery was a little different than what i expected. i thought they would talk more about designing houses instead of buildings and stadiums.
Centinial Park was pretty cool to. I didnt realize that so much effort was put into the area. It also has great surrounding buildings.
I did find the booklet helpful, and some sketches were made
I didn’t write to much in my notebook. The first thing I wrote was “it smells like woodchips”. Another thing I wrote was “KHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(from startrek movie)”. I didn’t write a whole lot more, bedause I actually forgot to since I was having so much fun. I think I wrote more, but I’m not sure.
I am an auditory and visual learner, writing notes in the booklet kept me more off topic and I began to get behind when Mr. Khan was talking, so I put the booklet in my pocket for the remainder of the trip. I did take a few sarcastic sketches of my surroundings upon entry to GT (in the ‘Blues Clues’ them, I found a pawprint on the bus and, upon asking my TV audience where the clue was, I continued to draw the charter bus with blocky lines and many details.
I did not find the booklet helpful at all. I did write in it but i didn’t scketch in it.
The booklets are a great idea. They were very helpful. The hard part was trying to write while standing up or walking. It really helped get out ideas and things that were bothering me. I think they should have been optional, just because many people seemed to dislike them. Although, if they were optional, I still would have written down as much as I did. I think i’ll bring a small notebook with me for any other field trips to come.
I didn’t really find the booklet helpful. It helped me memorize things a bit better by writing them down, but other than that, it didn’t really do much for me. :S
Actually i reall didn’t use the booklet at all, the reason for that is because i liked everything and there was no reason to write i just enjoyed going the places, seeing all the building, and meeting all knids of people. I just wanted to enjoy the experience of going to places that dealt with architecture.
the book really helped. it kept me from saying coments that i probably shouldnt have said out loud, and plus it was just fun.
The booklets were a cool idea. I didnt exactly take notes most of the time I kinda just put my thoughts down about everything, that I was thinking about. i don’t know if you can call drawing the chick with the crazy blue hair a sketch but I guess it works. The booklets were a great way to jot things down that you might need to help you get in to one of the colleges.
I liked The books. They were a great way to keep me out of trouble if you know what I mean. I think i only wrote the pages but they were information packed.
the books seemed helpful, but i didn’t write much down, mostly weird thoughts, and i designed a tuna shaped battleship with wasabi heavy cannons, teryaki defence guns, spicy tuna torpedos, and a massive Wasabi-aki rail gun. it was called… the TUNA_TANIUM!
I found that I didnt write very much in the notebooks. Alot of the information from GT and SPSU I had already learned from representatives at GHP. However I did write of few things about the various courses and conditions at the two colleges.
When I did the booklet to tell you the truth I didn’t think it helped at all. I think I speak for most people when I say that we didn’t use the booklet to take serious notes about the places we went to at all, just to guff off and try to be funny. I personall didn’t make sketches in it because I didn’t really think to do it. However when we went on the trip I thought the coolest place we went to was Georgia Tec. The enviroment was so welcoming and friendly just driving through to the building. The building itself was so cool looking with all of its figures and models. The pictures displayed on the boards by the entrance we really cool looking and some of them looked like some very hard peojects to do. That figure outside the building was o.k. but the bench inside the building I though was the coolest thing there. I have to admit the speaker there was pretty boring but it was still fun at Georgia Tec. At the arcitecture firm the people were very nice and it was kind of fun but some parts were still boring. That’s not to say that I still didn’t have fun. I can tell you one thing though, I definatly wouldn’t want to work there for a living or I would die of bordim. Good job on picking the place to eat Ms. Salas the CNN Center was teriffic. They had every sigle kind of food you could think of. I think that if you didn’t get the pizza you were really missing out. Not to mention the awsome layout and design of the center. It was several stories high with the big hotel staring at the second level. The giant globe with the escelator leading right into it was awsome and to think that they were broadcasting the news for right inside the building. Southern Poly Tec. was cool too but I didn’t think it was as cool as Georgia Tec. though. No offence Ms. Salas but the speakers there were REALLY boring, I had to fight to stay awake. It began to seem thik we were there forever. The campass looked o.k. but still kind of dull. Inside the building was cool though. The models they had by the entrance were really cool, especially the cardboard chair which at first I though was wood. The students workstations I though were better than the ones at Georgia Tec. because they were bigger and more up to date. The design of the building was really cool too.
